There have been now during the last decade several projects and initiatives to support Senjski Rudnik to start up a change towards a touristic site and towards a industrial heritage site. At present two EU projects are ongoing in Senjski Rudnik.

Within the framework of the Council of Europe Regional Programme for Cultural and Natural Heritage in Southeastern Europe, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Information Society produced so far:
EU Project: "Establishment of the Regional Heritage Centre in Senjski Rudnik Old Mine"
The EU funded Project “Technical Assistance for the Establishment of the Regional
Heritage Centre in Senjski Rudnik Old Mine” started in May 2012 and will continue
until November 2013. The project team is working together with the beneciaries and
the people from Senjski Rudnik to achieve the following main results:
- To develop an action plan for the transformation of Senjski Rudnik into an Ecomuseum and Regional Heritage Centre;
- To increase the local human capacities through training activities to start working on new jobs coming up with the developing tourism and the management of Senjski Rudnik Regional Heritage Centre;
- To promote and make known Senjski Rudnik as tourist destination through public awareness and communication activities at regional, national and international level.
EU Project: "Reconstruction and Restauration of Alexander Shaft Buildings"
An important complementary project to be mentioned is the EU infrastructure project
“Reconstruction and Restauration of Alexander Shaft Buildings” which started in June
2012 and is expected to be completed in December 2013.
Previous support from 2003 to 2011
Within the framework of the Council of Europe Regional Programme for Cultural and Natural Heritage in Southeastern Europe, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Information Society produced so far:
- Preliminary Technical Assessment – adopted in 2005 and revised in 2008;
- Feasibility Study – adopted in 2008.
Also, with the support of the Council of Europe, the Ministry prepared:
- Business Plan for the Senje Coal Mine – drafted in 2010;
and, with the support of the Belgrade University Faculty of Architecture, the rehabilitation infrastructure layouts for the:
- Old administration building;
- Coal mining museum;
- Smithy workshop;
- Industrial heritage park;
- Service object.
